What Is Xerf?
XERF is a noninvasive structural skin-tightening treatment that uses multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency (RF) energy to deliver controlled heat to shallow, middle, and deeper tissue layers. This thermal response supports collagen remodeling, helping improve the appearance of skin laxity and firmness without needles or surgery.
What Can Xerf Do For me?
For appropriately selected patients, XERF may help:
- Firm the appearance of mildly lax skin.
- Improve the look of early jowling and softening along the lower face.
- Create a smoother, more refined-looking jawline and facial contour.
- Improve the appearance of crepey or texturally uneven skin.
- Support collagen remodeling for gradually firmer-looking skin.
- Refresh areas showing early to moderate visible signs of skin aging.
XERF isn’t a substitute for facelift surgery, but it can be the perfect solution to treat early jowling and sagging or to gain moderate improvements in your neck and jawline if you prefer a nonsurgical option. We can also add temporary definition to the jawline with JUVÉDERM® VOLUX™ filler injections.
What Areas Can I Have Treated?
Your treatment areas will be selected during consultation based on your anatomy, goals, and current approved treatment indications. For the website, list only areas confirmed by LJC’s medical team and current manufacturer guidance.
How Does Xerf Work?
During treatment, your provider places the XERF handpiece against the skin and delivers controlled monopolar RF energy below the surface. The system’s two radiofrequency frequencies allow energy to reach multiple tissue depths. As targeted tissue is heated, the body’s natural response supports collagen remodeling and gradual improvement in firmness.
XERF’s cooling technology helps maintain the skin’s surface temperature while energy is delivered, and real-time impedance feedback helps the system respond to the skin during treatment. The result is a highly customizable treatment designed around both efficacy and comfort.
Am I A Good Candidate For Xerf?
A good XERF candidate is typically bothered by some degree of skin laxity or loss of firmness but does not want or need surgery to achieve the desired improvement. XERF may appeal to patients who want a noninvasive treatment with little interruption to their routine.
Candidacy depends on your medical history, skin condition, treatment area, anatomy, and expectations. We will evaluate these factors and recommend the most appropriate treatment during your consultation.
What Does Xerf Feel Like?
Treatment sensation varies from person to person. Patients can expect periods of warmth as radiofrequency energy is delivered. XERF is designed as a Never-Numb™ treatment and uses integrated cryogen cooling to help manage comfort at the skin’s surface.
Enjoy Pain-Free Ultherapy With PRO-NOX™
You deserve a comfortable experience, so we now offer PRO-NOX as an add-on during Ultherapy and other medical spa services.
What Is PRO-NOX?
PRO-NOX is a self-administered nitrous oxide (laughing gas) system that allows you to be in full control of your comfort. If at any point you feel you need something to take the edge off, simply breathe through the PRO-NOX mouthpiece for instant relief from pain and anxiety.
Unlike oral pain medication, PRO-NOX takes effect in seconds but wears off minutes after your treatment, leaving no trace of the chemical in your body. You can safely drive and return to your normal routine without worrying about side effects.
Ask us about adding PRO-NOX to your treatment at your consultation!
What Kind Of Results Can I Expect From Xerf?
XERF begins working immediately by delivering controlled radiofrequency energy to targeted tissue depths, creating an immediate tissue response while supporting the body’s natural collagen remodeling process. Results continue to develop gradually over the following weeks and months, with firmer, smoother, more lifted-looking skin becoming increasingly noticeable.
Patients may notice improved firmness and definition along the face, jawline, and neck, as well as smoother-looking skin texture. Because collagen remodeling takes time, improvements can continue to develop for approximately 2 to 3 months following treatment. Individual results vary.
How Long Do Xerf Results Last?
Because XERF works by supporting your body’s collagen remodeling response, results and longevity vary from person to person. Natural aging continues after treatment, so your provider may recommend maintenance treatments as part of a long-term skin rejuvenation plan.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
We’ll determine the number of XERF treatments that’s right for you during your consultation. Many patients may achieve their desired improvement with 1 or 2 treatments per area, while others may benefit from additional sessions depending on their skin, treatment area, and goals. We’ll take before-and-after photos to help track your progress and determine whether additional treatments may be beneficial.
Is Xerf Safe?
Yes. XERF is a noninvasive radiofrequency treatment designed with several features that help provide precise, controlled energy delivery while keeping patient comfort in mind. The system uses real-time impedance feedback to analyze the skin during treatment, along with customizable depth and intensity settings that allow your provider to personalize each session.
XERF also features Advanced Integrated Cryogen Delivery cooling, which helps maintain a comfortable skin-surface temperature while radiofrequency energy heats the targeted tissue below. The treatment requires no needles or numbing and is designed with no downtime, and the manufacturer states that XERF is safe for all skin types.
As with any medical aesthetic treatment, XERF isn’t appropriate for everyone and side effects are possible. During your consultation, we’ll review your medical history, evaluate the areas you’d like to treat, and discuss what you can expect before and after treatment to make sure XERF is an appropriate choice for you.
How Much Does Xerf Cost?
The cost of XERF at our San Diego-area medical spas will vary depending on your goals and the area or areas being treated.
We also offer convenient financing options through Cherry, allowing qualified patients to break the cost of their XERF treatment into manageable monthly payments. Learn more on our financing page.
